Great crested newts have declined Nationally and are a protected species, but we have been working with the local nature partnership and a collaborative project with Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (ARC) has included the creation of new ponds at Coed to compliment the pre-existing ponds and help strengthen the resident amphibian colonies. Pete Hill (aka DJ lizard wizard) is a licensed newt conservationist and has project-managed the recent pond creations at Coed.
