David Ambrose is a performance storyteller, singer and promoter who has been telling traditional stories from Wales and The World for well over 30 years.

In 1993 he co-founded Beyond The Border International Storytelling Festival, (“A festival like no other” said The Times) which he directed for 25 years until 2018. He is also a founder member of Tales From Beyond The Border Storytelling Company and for ten years was co-host of the celebrated Story & Music Nights at Milgi’s Café, Cardiff. 

As a performer, David tells traditional stories to audiences of all ages, from school children to Senior Citizens, working regularly in theatres and village halls, community centres and castles, parks, libraries and schools across Wales, as well as at festivals worldwide, from Canada to Iran, Scandinavia to Israel.

An engaging performer with a varied repertoire of traditional tales from Wales and beyond, he delights in words and word play, and his storytelling often employs riddles, puns, and jokes, as well as traditional songs and ballads from around The British Isles.
